From December 2023, unaccompanied minors must not enter or remain in:
an area related to a packaged liquor licence, and
an area dedicated to the sale of liquor by retail in sealed containers for consumption away from the premises (such as bottle shops and liquor sales areas within a supermarket)
Existing 3L and 9L signage approved by Liquor & Gaming NSW should be displayed within affected areas and will be mandatory in the future.
It may be an offence for the licensee/approved manager if an unaccompanied minor enters and remains within an affected area. It is a defence to prosecution if it is proved that the licensee took all 'reasonable precautions' to avoid the commission of the offence.
